President Obama's State of the Union is Tonight: What Issue is Most Important to You?
President Obama's State of the Union address tonight, his first with a Republican-controlled House, will center on the economy and cutting the unemployment rate of 9.4 percent.
"My number one focus is going to be making sure that we are competitive, that we are growing, and we are creating jobs," Obama said in a Democratic National Committee video previewing the speech. "I'm focused on making sure the economy is working for everybody, for the entire American family."
Obama will also urge Americans to participate in a more civil discourse, a message Vice President Biden brought to Democratic House members on Friday.
"We've got to change the way we talk to one another," Biden said. "It matters in terms of how we're going to deal with the problems of this country, whether we're actually going to respond to the needs of the American people."
